Andrea Allen

Andrea Allen is a barista, writer and entrepreneur whose passion for coffee and commitment to community have shaped her career. A graduate of Fulbright College with a degree in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, Andrea has always been driven by curiosity, creativity and connection.

As co-founder of Onyx Coffee Lab, she leads operations across the company’s cafés, roastery, and production facility, helping to set new standards in sourcing, roasting, and service. Her dedication to excellence has earned her recognition as a U.S. Barista Champion and World Barista Championship runner-up—honors that reflect both her technical skill and her advocacy for a more inclusive coffee industry.

Andrea’s work extends beyond the bar. She is a passionate advocate for women in coffee and the producers whose labor powers the global supply chain. Through her leadership and initiatives that spotlight female coffee growers, she continues to create opportunities that drive equity and visibility across the industry.

Outside of work, Andrea finds balance in running, riding horses, and spending time with her husband and two daughters—always fueled by the same diligence and perseverance that have defined her journey from writer to world-class coffee professional.
